2008 North West in Bloom Neighbourhood Awards
[22/10/2008]

On Monday 6th & Tuesday 7th October a group of Trafford
Housing Trust residents travelled to Liverpool’s stunning new
BT Convention Centre for the 2008 North West in Bloom Neighbourhood
Awards, hosted this year by Liverpool City Council: Liverpool
Mutual Homes & Tweed Associates.
The aim of the competition is to reward neighbourhoods,
communities, residents and businesses who have improved the local
environment by investing their time and effort in creating
beautiful gardens and floral displays.
The North West Neighbourhood Awards are part of the
Government’s ‘Cleaner, Safer, Greener’ campaign
and they reward communities who are playing a part in urban
regeneration. A record number of groups from housing associations
have entered this year’s awards. The main category awards on
day two concentrate on civic awards for villages, towns, cities,
resorts and even extends to caravan parks, hospital grounds and
hotels..
This year we almost doubled the number of neighbourhoods that were
entered by the Trust with a fantastic sixteen neighbourhoods flying
the flag for Trafford. The Trust also sponsored two trophies this
year, one for each day and was represented with a stand bearing the
legend “Trafford Housing Trust -Growing communities to be
proud of” in our distinctive branding logo which was easily
the most popular stand during both days.
Matthew Gardiner, Trafford Housing Trust’s Chief Executive,
said: “Neighbourhoods are at the heart of what we do, so we
were very pleased at the number of our neighbourhoods who entered
and scooped a record number of awards. In creating and preparing
entries our residents and staff have once more excelled themselves
and cultivated an increased sense of community pride on the
Trust’s estates.”
